- The operating system controls the device and determines how it works.
- Windows is an operating system but there have been many versions of Windows.
- Each operating system has a name and a version number, like Windows 7, Android 2.1, BlackBerry 6.0, etc.
- Symbian, iOS4, Windows Mobile 7, WebOS, Palm, Pocket PC and many others are all operating systems.
