- USB 1.0 had a data transfer speed of 1.5 Mbits/second.

- USB 2.0 has a data transfer rate of of 480 Mbits/second and came out in 2001.

has a data transfer rate of 5 Gbits/second and they should appear in the 3rd quarter of 2009.

- USB 3.0 will greatly increase the data transfer rate and the performance of devices using USB connections.

- USB devices are designed to be backward compatible.

- USB 3.0 hubs are compatible with USB 2.0 plugs.

- USB connections are very durable.
