Show Notes

- Booting got it's origins from the word bootstrap

- The old phrase, "pull yourself up by the bootstraps" indicated something difficult or imossible.

- In the early days of computers, getting the computer started was one of the biggest problems.

- The process of starting the computer was often called and used a "bootstrap loader."

- This was later called "bootstrapping" and then still later, just "booting."

- So, "booting" your computer has it's origins in boots, bootstraps, and that old expression.

- Fortunately, "booting" a computer is nowhere near as difficult as it used to be.
