- Windows Defender is free, anti-spyware software that comes right with Windows 7.
- Click on Start and then type Windows Defender in the search box.
- You'll see Windows Defender appear at the top of the search box and just press Enter.
- Windows Defender will show it's status.
- You can see when the last scan was, when scans are scheduled, and what version of definitions are being used.
- Windows Defender does not detect viruses.
- To get virus protection you can download Security Essentials
- Download and install and you'll have free anti-virus and anti-spyware protection.
