You might be unaware (as we were before researching this tutorial) that facebook.com" target="_blank">Facebook has a separate
settings menu
for what your friends can share about you. This includes information about you that can be shared throughwebsites and applications
, even if you don't have those applications. Here we take a look at how tochange those privacy settings
and ensure that you have full control over what information can be shared about you.Download this episode now

UPDATE: Facebook has begun rolling out new and simplified privacy settings for some users. Many of the tips in this series still directly apply however.
- Your friends can potentially share private information about you through Facebook without you knowing it.
- To get full control over what your friends can share about you, click on Settings, then Privacy Settings.
- Now select Applications and Websites.
- You'll see an option for What your friends can share about you. Click on Edit.
- You'll see a list of various information such as Personal info, Education and work, My links, My photos and so on.
- You can deselect these items to keep them private and visible only to your friends.
- Click Save settings and you're set.
